Denver Broncos coach returns after heart surgery

Denver Broncos coach John Fox will return to work on Monday - four weeks after undergoing heart surgery.

The 58-year-old was taken to hospital earlier this month after falling ill while playing golf. He subsequently underwent surgery to replace his aortic valve, which he initially planned to have operated on during the offseason.

But after joining the players and coaches in their post-practice huddle on Thanksgiving Day, it's been confirmed that Fox is now ready to take the reins back from his good friend Jack Del Rio, who has run the team over the last few weeks.

"Our organization is confident that his health will allow him to meet his head coaching responsibilities," the Broncos said in a statement, according to USA Today. "While no formal restrictions will be placed on his workload upon return, he will continue to be monitored by our medical staff as his well-being remains our No. 1 priority."

Fox is now looking for his place to hand him the best possible welcome-back present: victory over Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.

A Broncos win would move them a significant step closer to securing the AFC West title.
