Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that Sergio Aguero is the best player in the Premier League and is capable of matching the talents of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Aguero has been in superb form this season and tops the Premier League scoring charts with 10 and the 25-year-old has 16 goals from the same amount of appearances in all competitions.
The Argentinian's goals have been a key factor in ensuring that Pellegrini's men have remained in the top four as they look to win back the title which they lost to rivals Manchester United last season.
Pellegrini, who replaced Roberto Mancini in the summer, may be disappointed to have lost four games already this season but he needn't worry about the amount of goals his side are scoring, they have the highest goal difference - +22 - in the top flight.
The Chilean manager said that Aguero can be the best in the world: ''We hope. That is what we are working on every day and what he wants.
''The ambitions of Sergio will be very important if he can arrive at that level,'' the 60-year-old continued.
''I said last week after Messi and Cristinao Ronaldo he is the best. Both are not playing in the Premier League, so he is.''
The former Real Madrid and Malaga manager first encountered Aguero as a youngster playing for Athletico Madrid, and says that he has improved from that time: ''He is a better player because he is older.
''He arrived in Spain when he was 18 or 19 years old. He was always a very important player, a top player, but this year he is trying to work a little bit more without the ball.
''You see, three or four of the last goals we scored are because he is doing a good job pressing on their defenders. I think he is more complete.''
Pellegrini will be hoping that his star striker can continue the form that has seen him net 15 goals in his last 12 games when his charges host Swansea on Sunday.
