Manchester United should target Yohan Cabaye

As the season begins to settle Manchester United currently occupy the 6th place in the Premier League not the place one would expect them to be. United have managed six wins three draws and three defeats in their 12 league games this season.

Although on a 10-game unbeaten streak the Reds have looked far below their potential; missing out on wins against Cardiff, Southampton, West Brom.

With Michael Carrick’s injury United’s midfield has been exposed. The likes of Marouane Fellaini and Tom Cleverley have put in below average performances and the Red Devils definitely need to spend in January to bolster the midfield.

January isn't the ideal time to spend as players prefer moves during summer and many of them are cup-tied as well. But one such midfielder who could improve United’s midfield, won’t be cup-tied and easily convinced to join United. That player is Yohan Cabaye.

Cabaye, 27, has been a pivotal figure in Newcastle’s midfield. The French midfielder already has 26 caps for France and also played a crucial role in Lille’s Ligue 1 and Coupe de France triumph.

The midfielder moved to Newcastle in 2011 and adapted quickly to the life in England. The Frenchman is the ideal box-to-box midfielder that David Moyes needs right now and would be the perfect partner for Carrick. The Frenchman excels in set pieces, netting goals from free kicks and penalties. he also posses excellent passing and vision which would come in handy for feeding the likes of Rooney and Van Persie.

According to Squawka, Cabaye has found the back of the net twice and has created 15 goal scoring chances as well. He boasts a performance score of 238 in the ten Premier League appearances this season. The Frenchman would be an ideal signing in the transfer window and would definitely be a key player for the Red Devils. Whether the Old Trafford outfit move for him or not,at £15mil they’d at least know they’d find a man to solve their midfield problems.
