The Arsenal juggernaut is showing no signs of letting up. Cardiff City gave it their all today. Egged on by the raucous support at the Cardiff City Stadium, they have managed to beat Manchester City and last week, they held the champions Manchester United to a creditable draw.

But Malky Mackay’s team had no answer to Arsene Wenger’s band of merry men as they succumbed to 3-0 defeat.

Aaron Ramsey, who is in the form of his life, scored with two well-taken goals to break his old side’s heart. Mesut Ozil was mercurial as usual, providing two sumptuous assists.

At the start of the game, Wenger talked about getting out of Cardiff with a point as being a great result for his side. But, his side made a mockery of that idea. The warning signs were there in the second minute itself when Jack Wilshere thumped the woodwork.

Then, Oliver Giroud provided one of the bloopers of the season, calling offside on himself even though the linesman thought otherwise. Finally it was Cardiff City’s former favourite who got the all-crucial first goal with a superbly placed header to the left of the keeper after a great cross from Ozil. The ball was served on a plate with terrific pace and Ramsey did the rest.

The second half started with much of the same - Arsenal on the front foot. But Cardiff were not going to go down without a fight. They worked up a head of steam around the 50th minute. About 10 minutes of Cardiff pressure followed.

The pesky Frazier Cambell headed powerfully into the bottom corner. Szczesny produced a wonderful save to his right. Wenger worried. He threw on Mathieu Flamini to provide some more solidity to midfield and stem the Cardiff wave.

The game petered out a bit around the 70th minute. It was game, set and match in the 86th minute as Ozil threaded a typically cute ball for the onrushing Flamini who finished with aplomb.

Ramsey even found time in injury time to add gloss to the score line. It was hard on the Bluebirds who had shown terrific spirit. But they were simply outclassed. The rest of the Premier League should be afraid. Very, very afraid.
