Chelsea: Are they scaring targets away?

This summer Chelsea attempted to sign attackers Wayne Rooney, Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani and their transfers all did not materialize. When you look at Chelsea's squad size, perhaps you realise why.

When you compare the squad of Chelsea's to other top clubs, there is a many more attacking players at Chelsea which obviously has it's benefits but also it's problems. Fernando Torres, Juan Mata, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Demba Ba, Samuel Eto'o - all top players that any player would find difficult to play ahead of.

I believe this is a major issue with 'squad rotation'; clubs no longer care about their starting 11 but their squad instead and this is damaging to the progession of younger players as well.

Take the latest transfer rumour, Jackson Martinez is linked with a move to Chelsea , but if another club offers the same amount of money with less competition, would he really still choose Chelsea? And even if he did, a existing player at Chelsea would be pushed down the line and find himself getting less game time.

I am not saying Chelsea are no longer appealing to join but I think Chelsea may need to sell before they try to buy otherwise they may be in trouble.
