Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti claims that Lionel Messi would not be his first choice if he had to choose an ideal acquisition from the Camp Nou, but urged Barcelona to contact him if the Argentine became available for transfer.
Ancelotti claims that, if presented with the chance to sign any Barcelona player, he would forgo the opportunity to sign Messi because he is perfectly happy retaining Cristiano Ronaldo as his leading man.
Ronaldo, he claims, possesses a gift given by God, and even Messi would not be able to usurp the Portuguese from his position of supremacy at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"If I could sign one player for Real Madrid, it wouldn't be Messi, I'd rather reinforce another position," Ancelotti told Radio Capital.
Ancelotti did joke, however, that he would consider bringing Messi to Real Madrid if Barcelona decided to part ways with the player at some point down the line.
He added: "If Barca sell Messi, they should call us."
Barcelona, meanwhile suffered their first defeat in La Liga this season against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, but retain a cushion of three points over Real Madrid after 15 matches played.
