Evening Report: December 2
Gareth Bale, David Luiz, William Carvalho, Andre Villas-Boas and more...
Arsenal and Manchester United scouts were said to have been impressed by Sporting Lisbon starlet William Carvalho, following the 21-year-olds performance over the weekend. The scouts have been following the youngster for a few weeks now in order to track his development.
And that's not the only news concerning United to hit the headlines today. Reports are suggesting that United could have in fact signed Gareth Bale before his record £85million move to Real Madrid, of they had agreed to take on Tottenham flop Emmanuel Adebayor as part of the deal. It's believed that Spurs were willing to entertain the idea of a colossal £100million offer, but only if David Moyes signed Adebayor as well, which he refused to do.
And it appears Adebayor isn't the only issue at Tottenham at the minute, as Andre Villas-Boas is embroiled in a row with former club chairman Sir Alan Sugar. The Spurs boss responded to comments made by Lord Sugar which criticised his coaching tactics, but Villas-Boas was quick to fire-back a response, hinting that the Apprentice chief wasn't a real fan.
Now to La Liga where Real Madrid manager Carlos Ancelotti is said to be targeting Chelsea defender David Luiz as a potential replacement for Sergio Ramos. Ramos has denied that he wants to leave the club but is still linked with Stamford Bridge, meaning a possible swap deal could be in the offing.
And finally Barcelona have allowed their rivals to close the gap at the top of the Spanish league, after suffering defeat to Athletic Bilbao in their second consecutive loss. Gerardo Martino's side were previously unbeaten in the league but are now level on points with Atletico Madrid and only three points ahead of rivals Real.
