Splash! Tom Daley's all over the front pages today since he decided to post that YouTube video in which, with endearing honesty, the teenage Olympian revealed he was in a relationship with a guy.

Tom's confession served its purpose in terms of bringing the news about - but it also pointed towards a bitter reality.

There you have it - society's tolerance to different sexuality is not quite there yet, this is far from an ideal world and, sadly enough, the coming out of prolific athletes is still worth a headline.

But in spite of all those confident enough to judge the diver for his lifestyle choice, Tom still epitomises the motto of London 2012 - he inspires a generation. He always has and, ironically, that's why people demand to know all about him.

Daley knows that, too - and he chose to let the world know about his relationship in a one-on-one manner no journalistic piece could incorporate. He didn't want his words to be "twisted", just like he was misquoted before.

He laid it plain, with an immense dose of courage and bravery - something he's regularly shown throughout his incredible life. Tom Daley gave British people one more reason to be proud.

So there you go, you've got the whole of him. You can do whatever you want, but all he asked is the simple thing which means everything to any athlete - support.

"I'm still Tom Daley", he pleaded in the clip. Stay true to him. He's been true with you.
