Barcelona head coach Gerardo Martino has identified Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku as a potential signing, according to the TV3 programme Efectivament.
The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Everton, has been on fine form since moving to Goodison Park at the end of the transfer window - scoring eight goals in his first nine Premier League appearances for the Toffees.
While last season, the established Belgium international netted an impressive 17 goals in 35 matches while on a season-long loan at West Bromwich Albion.
Chelsea regard Lukaku as an important player for the future - and the Blues' current manager Jose Mourinho is likely to be extremely reluctant to allow Barcelona to purchase one of the club's best young players.
Mourinho rarely saw eye-to-eye with the Catalan giants while working for Real Madrid between 2010-2013, despite previously working at the Camp Nou during the early stages of his career.
However, Chelsea have been linked with several world-class strikers in recent months, including AS Monaco forward Radamel Falcao.
Should Mourinho purchase Falcao in either January or next summer - Lukaku is likely to consider his options.
