Barcelona have sent scouts to watch Aaron Ramsey as they continue to search the continent for reinforcements, reports the Daily Mail.
Arsenal star Ramsey has been the standout performer in the Premier League so far this season with eight goals from midfield and four assists.
His tireless displays in the Gunners midfield have now attracted the interest of Gerardo Martino, who has sent his scouts on a mission to hunt for reinforcements.
The Barcelona squad is starting to succumb to the pressure of staying at the top with current stars Xavi and Carles Puyol starting to fall out of their prime while Lionel Messi struggles for fitness.
In a bid to reinforce the squad, Martino has sent Nou Camp representatives watch Ramsey's last four games for club and country to assess how he could fit in to the Barcelona team.
However, signing the 22-year-old will be a massive challenge for Barcelona, with the Daily Mail suggesting that Ramsey has formed a strong bond with Arsene Wenger after the Frenchman supported him during his prolonged rehabilitation from a horrific leg break.
Wenger was recently quoted saying that he wouldn't consider selling Ramsey even for £50m.
Asked if he would sell Ramsey for £50m, Wenger told reporters: "No. We don't want to sell anybody, we want to keep the team together. I've suffered enough for years for having to sell the players. Now we are in a stronger position financially.
With a centre-back and striker high on Barcelona's hit list, it is unlikely that their finances will stretch past the £50m+ bid that Wenger is demanding.
They have, nonetheless, been very impressed with the Welshman and have sent gleaming recommendations back to Catalonia.
