They may often be a giant waste of public money, but some of them don't half look cool.
The tickets may be hideously overpriced, the half-time food and drinks stall is almost certainly extortionate, and the game itself could very well be boring.
But there's something to be said for taking in a particularly awe-inspiring stadium.
It could be the massive roar of a crowd 100,000-strong, the shared experience that comes with cheering on your team with strangers - your only bond a mutual love for the same team.
But sometimes, it's just because you're visiting a particularly awesome piece of metal and steel and grass - a piece of engineering brilliance plonked - often in a densely populated urban area - where you happen to be watching a game.
Here are ten of our favourite stadiums, and we admit, there's a few here that are still in the prototype design stage.
