The Atlanta Falcons’ clash with the Detroit Lions will kick-off at 1:30pm in London next season, the NFL announced.

It’s significant news in the sense that Wembley will experience its first ‘game day’ kick-off, whilst fans in America will have even more football to watch with a 9:30am Eastern start time.

A fourth ‘game window’ is unprecedented, with the aim to offer this match-up to a larger global audience from the English capital.

The Falcons-Lions match-up is one of three international series games coming to the UK next year, with Miami Dolphins facing the Oakland Raiders on September 27th and the Dallas Cowboys meeting the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 9th.

Both these regular season games will start at 6pm local time – meaning they are on at the same time as the traditional 1pm kick-offs in America.

This year, the Minnesota Vikings beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a close one at Wembley, whilst the San Francisco 49ers gave the Jaguars a beating a month later.
