Standard Liege president Roland Duchâtelet has confirmed that Arsenal are closely tracking young starlet Michy Batshuayi, according to 101GreatGoals.
The forward, who has turned out for the Belgian U21 side on numerous occasions, has been linked with the Gunners in the past, but now Liege have confirmed that scouts are watching him with a keen eye.
"What is new is the interest of Arsenal, although Arsenal are just one of many clubs who are chasing our striker Michy. Anyway, we are not willing to let go Michy this season," said Duchatelet.
Batshuayi has an impressive goal haul for Standard having netted 30 goals in 70 games, including seven in 12 appaearances this campaign.
Interest in the Belgian is thought to be high, and Swansea were reported to have had a £2.5million bid rejected in the summer. However Wenger is believed to be confident of luring the prospect away from his current club at some point in the future.
It remains to be seen whether or not he would be able to stake a claim for a first-team spot alongside Olivier Giroud at the Emirates, or if the Arsenal boss would bring him in with a view for the future in the same capacity as Yano Sanogo.
