A man, well more a kid, has really surprised me this season. His name is Nathan Redmond. He is just 19 years old and he has already become one of Norwich City's stand-out players.
He plays on the primarily the wing but he can also play in a centre-forward role. He scored his first and only goal for the club just two weeks after his debut.
His superb performances for Birmingham over the last couple of seasons got him a lot of recognition from all over the UK and then he became a highly anticipated player to be in the Premier League by at least January 2013.
This recognition got him a place in the England U19s then he was brought into the U21 squad for the 2013 European Championships as a replacement for Callum McManaman where he showed that he had talent.
Now I think it is time for him to be able to show off his talents to the world by giving him an England senior team call-up. I believe with the injuries that Roy Hodgson had from players such as Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck, Redmond should have got his chance.
Redmond is a very athletic player full of pace and agility. He is a very similar player to Andros Townsend, but he can also be a similar player to Walcott too. He can play on either wing as he dangerous on both of his feet and I think he would be a meal for any full-back that comes up against him in a game, like Walcott and Townsend.
Hodgson gave Townsend a chance and look at the player he has proven to be. In my opinion, Redmond is a better player than Raheem Sterling, but Sterling would get a better chance of getting into the England squad because he plays for Liverpool and Redmond plays for 16th place, Norwich.
Hodgson also gave opportunities to Adam Lallana, Ross Barkley and Jay Rodriguez so why should Redmond not get a chance? He is a superb player, the kid has a lot of talent and I think that he could get a plane ticket to Brazil if he keeps his good Norwich performances up.
Redmond has scored one goal since joining Norwich in the summer in 11 Premier League games and has scored one goal in eight for the England U21s.
