Tottenham's curious start to the 2013/14 season has seen them lavish record amounts of money on a plethora of attacking options, yet still struggle massively in front of goal following the departure of Gareth Bale.

Although it is the likes of Roberto Soldado who appear to be bearing the brunt of much of Spurs fans' anger, Andre Villas-Boas' midfield are also clearly not pulling their weight in that department. 

Croatian maverick Modric, who left White Hart Lane for the bright lights of Real Madrid last August, provides the nous and creativity that Tottenham are currently desperate to obtain.
