A reason to believe your professional football career could still happen

Published 1 Comments

On the same night that Luis Suarez scored four stunning goals for Liverpool, his compatriot Santiago Silva missed an absolute sitter for Lanus against Ponte Preta.

The 32-year-old forward has played for some of the biggest clubs in South America, as well as a brief stint at Fiorentina a few years back.

However, he’s unlikely to have produced a worse miss in his 15-year career than on Wednesday night, when Silva somehow shot wide from six-yards with the goal LITERALLY gaping. I'm not joking when I say you, or your mum, or your nan, could have scored this.

With the scores level at 0-0, a low cross-trickled across the goal and onto the foot of Silva.

But, rather than tap in with his weaker left foot, he attempted an elaborate outside of the right-foot finish that went horribly wrong.

Nicknamed ‘the tank’, Silva showed that not every striker from Uruguay possesses the ability of Suarez – some the exact opposite, in fact.

But don’t just take my word for it, watch the horror miss at the top of this story & believe that a professional football career could still be round the corner…
