LeBron James posted a picture of him and Jay-Z on Instagram with a special message wishing the US rapper a happy birthday on Wednesday.

Jay-Z, who is one of the world's most famous hip-hop artists, turned 44 - but despite his advancing years, LeBron revealed that he is inspired by the man who boasts a net worth upwards of $500m.

"HBD [Happy birthday] to my Big Homie!" LeBron wrote. "I've learned alot from u by just watching the way you move, conduct yourself and business ventures. You've set one of the standards that I follow on what it means to be a true ICON! Couldn't thank you enough. Love #LaFamilia #YoungHov #TheGOAT"

LeBron might be hoping for a similar birthday message in return later this month. The Miami Heat forward, widely considered one of the NBA's best players, turns 29 on December 30.

As well as an immensely successful rapper, Jay-Z has also proved that he has plenty of business acumen, having set up his own clothing line, sports agency and record label.

His birthday message from LeBron has, so far, attracted 185,000 likes.
