As the draw for the 2014 Brazil World Cup approaches tonight, England are facing up to the frightening prospect of ending up in a group of death.
England are unseeded going into the draw, so have an 11.1% chance of drawing top seeded teams such as: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Columbia from South America and France, Italy, from Europe.
If England had been seeded they would have no chance of ending up with these world power clubs.
Because all of the unseeded European teams have been placed in the same pot, England have a one in nine chance of being part of the group of death.
England need to avoid the group of death if they have realistic hopes of progressing into the knock out stages, but have no choice in the matter and must play with the cards dealt this evening.
The 2014 Fifa World Cup takes place in Brazil, starting on Thursday 12th June and finishing on Sunday 13th July.
It is the 20th time the tournament has been played, with this year's South American showpiece the first to be hosted by Brazil since 1950.
During the 32 days of the tournament, 64 matches will be played in new or redeveloped stadiums across 12 cities.
