Everybody loves the group of death. Except, you of course, if the team you support is drawn right bang in the middle of it. 

As soon as the pots are announced before the draw of a major tournament, the first thing every football fan will do is envisage the worst-case scenario for their team. Paranoia will ensue.

Then, somewhere down the line, you will briefly imagine what is the best possible draw for your team.

But that's never realistically going to happen is it.

And even if it does, chances are you'll still ending up drawing your opening two games to the USA and Algeria, before struggling past Slovenia with an insipid 1-0 victory. 

With the much-anticipated World Cup draw for next summer's Brazilian showpiece taking place on Friday afternoon, let's take a look at some of the most tantalising groups of death of the 21st Century so far...
