Honourable Mention: Brock Lesnar, Damien Sandow, Triple H, Vickie Guerrero
Winner: Bully Ray
TNA’s product has been difficult to watch at times this year. The one redeeming feature for TNA, even when producing boring shows, was Bully Ray’s performances.
The man formerly known as Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE and ECW had long been known for his performances as part of the Dudley Boyz tag team however he was resurrected as Bully Ray in 2010.
Ray is now in the best shape of his career and at the age of 42 is currently producing the best work of his career.
For any wrestling fans that have not seen Bully Ray perform this year, I would recommend you take a look at the Bully Ray vs. AJ Styles match from TNA’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view to see just how much heat Ray has from TNA fans and also to see just how much he has improved since his split from kayfabe half-brother D-Von Dudley.
Not once this year has Ray failed to gain heat from the fans and also taking into account his great performances against AJ Styles among others, Bully is one of the contenders for wrestler of the year.
TNA are very lucky to have Bully Ray in their company today and I have no doubt that the two TNA Championship reigns he enjoyed this year will not be his last.
Bully Ray’s incredible ability to elicit hate from an audience with not much more than a look has earned him the honour of being named the Give Me Sport’s Heel of the Year.
