Liverpool's international stars heard their opposition for next year's FIFA World Cup in Brazil as the final group stage draw was made yesterday.
The most anticipated Liverpool head-to-head will be when England skipper Steven Gerrard takes on Uruguay's star striker Luis Suarez.
But for now, domestic issues are top priority. Liverpool prepare to host West Ham this afternoon at Anfield. The Hammers would have looked on in fear at the four stunning Suarez goals against Norwich City on Wednesday after their 1-0 home defeat to struggling Crystal Palace.
Liverpool fans will hope that Suarez does much the same, even half, against West Ham on Saturday. Liverpool, though, are an inconsistent bunch, to the frustration of so many.
Even the most hated individuals against Liverpool would admit that the Reds, on their day, will beat the world - and thankfully for them, the Reds have not made every matchday their day, or else there would be a team domination of English football like no other.
But reality is real and very harsh and the truth is that the Reds have not consistently performed since the 80s, and this is what makes Liverpool fans so frustrated - the ambition, belief, potential, and most pertinent of all, the ability of their team.
Perhaps Brendan Rodgers is the man to bring all these key components together into winning and long-running form. The start to the Reds' season suggests so, although their recent form before the emphatic Norwich win is nothing to keep excited note of.
Liverpool should take all three points this afternoon from what will be at tough and bullish encounter. But with Arsenal running away, and Chelsea, along with Manchester City pushing Liverpool, now is the time for maximum output from the Anfield outfit.
