Monaco will be without £50m record signing Radamel Falcao this weekend as the Colombian continues to suffer from a thigh problem.
Falcao has missed the last two games since being injured against Nantes and will sit out the game against Ajaccio on Sunday.
Speaking to l’Equipe, Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri said: “He will not play against Ajaccio. I'm not surprised, it is an old injury from last season which has returned."
Despite missing Falcao for the last two matches, Monaco have kept up their winning ways with 2-0 and 3-0 victories keeping them in third place behind Lille and Paris Saint-Germain.
Monaco are heavy favourites for the game on Sunday, with Corsicans Ajaccio having just one win under their belts all season.
The news of Falcao’s injury was confirmed on Monaco’s official website, who said the Colombian was still feeling mild discomfort from the previous injury, and will sit out the game as a precaution.
Falcao has been linked with a move away from Monaco, despite only joining the French side this summer. Chelsea and Manchester City have been touted as possible destinations, but with a hefty £80m price tag attached to the striker, a move away so early in his Ligue 1 career seems unlikely.
