The eight best players to never win the Champions League (5)

Pavel Nedved

Despite winning the Ballon d'Or later in the year, 2003 provided Champions League heartbreak for this Czech star.

A yellow card in the semi-final against Real Madrid meant Nedved was suspended for the showpiece final against AC Milan and forced to watch on from the stands as his teammates lost a penalty shoot-out at the end of a forgettable final.

Nedved’s form during the 1990’s and 2000’s earned him legendary status in his homeland and, despite several controversies, he was greatly appreciated in Italy having spent five years at Lazio before his eight-year stint in Turin.
