Manchester United midfielder Anderson is reportedly interested in a move to Tottenham Hotspur in January. claims that the 25-year-old was seeking out Andre Villas-Boas following the Red Devils' 2-2 draw with Spurs in November, and the possibility of a move to north London in the New Year.

The Brazilian international moved to Old Trafford in 2007, but has ultimately failed to meet the hype following his £20million switch from FC Porto.

Following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the midfielder has made just four Premier League appearances for Manchester United under new boss David Moyes.

And, with a reported weekly wage of £80,000, getting the midfielder off the books could free up some funds for the Red Devils manager to spend elsewhere.

Whether Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in the player remains to be seen, but Villas-Boas did identify the player as a leading target in the summer of 2012, the report claims.

Spurs have a plethora of talent in the position, with Paulinho, Moussa Dembele, Sandro and Etienne Capoue all vying for first team opportunities at White Hart Lane.

Anderson would give the Tottenham Hotspur boss another option in the position, but his lack of long-term impact in the Premier League must be a concern.

Manchester United would also have to consider whether they'd be willing to offload a player to a rival for one of the top four Champions League places this season.
