The Dallas Mavericks entered the Moda Center ready to take on the Portland Trail Blazers. The Trail Blazers were on a four-game win streak and an eight-game home win streak. They went into the contests as favourites but left with the short end of the stick.

It was a close game the whole way through and a good one for reigning Rookie of the Year, Damian Lillard. He dropped 32 points but none as remarkable as the three he made with one and nine tenths of a second to go.

The defender jumped on his pump fake and gave Lillard all the daylight he needed. The crowd erupted, but Lillard and the fans made sure not to get to far ahead of themselves.

Rick Carlisle drew up the play perfectly. Three screens were set for Monta Ellis and he was able to get a clean look at the basket.

He took a couple of dribbles and drained the deep two. The crowd was silenced and the Mavericks left with an outstanding victory over the best team in the west.
