Dani Osvaldo scored a contender for Premier League goal of the season to hand Southampton a well-earned point in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Manchester City at St Mary's.

The £15million summer signing produced by far his best moment in a Saints shirt when he spectacularly curled an effort over outstretched goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon from the edge of the area.

Latching on to a prodded ball forward by Steven Davis, the Italy international ghosted past Citizens captain Vincent Kompany twice, before cutting inside to unleash a delicate chip into the far corner.

Wild scenes of jubilation ensued, with the former Roma star treating Saints fans to his trademark machine gun celebration, followed by an emotional embrace with manager Mauricio Pochettino on the sidelines.
