Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move to sign Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman, who left PSV Eindhoven to join AS Roma this summer.
Despite of the fact that Strootman has already joined his new club, United are showing signs of making a move for the midfield marvel.
The midfielder's former boss at PSV Eindhoven, Dick Advocaat had failed to keep to himself that, 'Strootman could make Manchester United move'.
This sparked rumours that United, who desperately need to sign a creative midfielder, were keen on bringing the Dutchman to Old Trafford.
Strootman, who is a tough-tackling" midfielder, was recently checked out by United scouts when he played for Holland in their friendly against Colombia.
And the Daily Star suggest United are ready to break the bank for the Dutchman who was also targeted by Arsenal this summer.
A home defeat against Newcastle on Saturday, following the midweek loss to Everton at Old Trafford, has plunged United into crisis and Moyes knows he must dip into the transfer market next month if the club - currently languishing in ninth spot in the Premier League - are to have any chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League.
However, Strootman was on United’s radar before his switch to Roma and the Premier League champions remain interested in the powerful midfielder.
Moyes is desperate to improve his options in the middle of the park after failing to land Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera in the summer, while Marouane Fellaini has yet to find his feet at Old Trafford following his deadline day move from Everton.
