Premier League: Top 5 performers of the weekend (1)

The Premier League did not fail to disappoint this weekend as it again threw up some surprise results.

Proceedings started on Saturday afternoon when Manchester United played host to Newcastle United.

And the game brought about another shock defeat for the Red Devils as the Premier League champions lost 1-0 against Alan Pardew's side.

Liverpool defeated West Ham 4-1 to push themselves into second spot as Chelsea were unexpectedly beaten 3-2 by Stoke City.

Palace claimed all three points against fellow Premier League relegation candidates Cardiff City, while Southampton picked up a valuable point against Southampton.

There were also wins for Norwich at West Brom and Tottenham beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Fulham's new manager Rene Meulensteen picked up his first win since taking over the reins at Craven Cottage as the west London side defeated Aston Villa 2-0.

And Arsenal could only pick up a point against Everton on Sunday.
