LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant's return from a long injury layoff last night reportedly caused one crazed fan to cancel his wedding at the last minute, preferring to be at the Staples Center rather than tie the knot.
San Diego native Simon Bradley had invited 60 guests to watch him get married on Sunday night, but with Bryant returning from an eight-month spell on the sidelines he opting on a dramatic late u-turn.
Bradley is thought to have promised his fiancee that they will set a new date for the nuptials quickly, after deciding that the lure of cheering Bryant on after 240 days out was too great, according to the International Business Times.
The Lakers die-hard's loyalty was not rewarded with victory though, as the Toronto Raptors spoiled Kobe's homecoming in a 106-94 defeat win on the road.
Bryant scored nine points and recorded eight rebounds in a 27-minute season debut, which left the Lakers with a .500 record of 10 wins and as many defeats.
Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni will hope Bryant's return can breathe new life into an inconsistent campaign, which has his side two games of the play-off pace in the Western Conference.
