Dwayne Wade's knee situation improving

The Miami Heat were the recipients of a notable boost this weekend, after it emerged that Dwayne Wade's troublesome knees were not damaged in the clash with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.

Wade sat out of the Sunday night victory over the in-form Detroit Pistons and many feared that it was due to a knee collision with the Timberwolves Kevin Martin.

However it now appears that it was all part of the plan for the Heat, who are keen to ensure D-Wade's injury woes do not force him out of important games later on in the season.

Following the match with the Timberwolves, Wade said: “It’s [his knee] OK. Thank God.”

And Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed that his guard's omission from the Pistons game was a decision that had been made with the player's long-term fitness in mind.

"Everybody is on the same page about it, he’s going to get better quicker as the season goes on.

“We want to be judicious early on so that he keeps making forward steps.”

The Heat's next game sees them take on the Indiana Pacers tomorrow night, where Wade is expected to resume duties.
