There seems to be an unspoken agreement that Joe Hart will eventually make a triumphant return to the Manchester City starting eleven.
The England number one goalkeeper Hart just has too much raw talent to be a reserve for long.
The thinking seems to be that after a few games on the bench Hart will have got his head back on straight, he will be better for the experience, more mature and he will become number one again.
After all, Costel Pantilimon does not have the pedigree to be the number one for the billionaire backed Manchester City. He is not well known enough.
The unspoken unsaid X factor in all this is Manchester City's oil infused billions.
Manchester City don't need to be patient with Hart or even with Pantilimon. They can go out and spend over the odds to bring in a world-class goalkeeper.
This is partly what is interesting in rumours coming out on the weekend linking German international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer with a switch the blue half of Manchester.
Ordinarily these rumours would have little credibility. Why would Bayern Munich sell
Maybe because, Pep Guardiola wants to use the money to help fund a bid for long-term
transfer target Luis Suarez.
Suarez is one of the few top quality players available who would be able to play in
the Champions League.
We know that Liverpool would not sell cheap but would they turn down an offer
similar to that which Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale?
