Manchester United manager David Moyes has some big decisions to make for his side’s Champions League Group A clash against Shakhtar Donetsk.

With the Red Devils already qualified, the Scot could rest a few of his big names. But, after losing two consecutive home games, a third straight defeat would be a disaster for Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor.

His first big decision comes between the sticks, with Anders Lindegaard a possible replacement for David de Gea. With United needing a result to guarantee top spot, we think he’ll stick with the Spaniard.

At the back, Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Patrice Evra are all injury doubts, and the Red Devils chief won’t want to risk any of the trio. That means Rafael is likely to remain at right-back, with Jonny Evans partnering Rio Ferdinand and Alex Buttner on the left.

In defensive midfield, Marouane Fellaini is back from suspension and could start for Manchester United in one of the holding roles alongside Phil Jones. Michael Carrick is out with an Achilles problem.

Moving forward, and Moyes has options with Shinji Kagawa back from ‘injury’ after having his stomach pumped. He’s an option behind the striker, with Antonio Valencia on the right and Danny Welbeck on the left.

That leaves Wayne Rooney to lead the line, after the striker missed the game against Newcastle through suspension at the weekend. Moyes played Robin van Persie for longer than hoped on Saturday, and the Dutchman is likely to be available if needed off the bench.

Manchester United predicted XI v Shakhtar Donetsk:

De Gea; Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, Buttner; Fellaini, Jones; Valencia, Kagawa, Welbeck; Rooney.
