Chelsea playmaker Kevin de Bruyne is set to leave the club in January against the wishes of manager Jose Mourinho.

The Evening Standard reports that ‘the Special One’ wants the young Belgian international to stay at Stamford Bridge in the New Year, despite starting just four times so far this season.

De Bruyne has other ideas however, and is meeting with his agent in London to talk over the possibility of a short-term switch away from the Blues.

A host of clubs are interested, the paper claims, but the player himself favours a move Wolfsburg.

It’s yet more bad new for Chelsea boss Mourinho, following the last minute defeat in the Potteries at the weekend.

But, having used De Bruyne as a substitute on just two occasions since October, it’s no surprise to see the 22-year-old looking for a move away from the capital with a World Cup around the corner.

The former Genk starlet signed for Chelsea in January 2012, and returned to his old club for the remainder of the season on loan. He spent all of last term at Werder Bremen, and must be getting used to life away from the King’s Road.

Mourinho’s side currently sit third in the table, five points off the leaders ahead of next weekend’s clash against Crystal Palace.
