Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to breaking goals records and he claimed another one on Tuesday night as Real Madrid defeated Copenhagen in Denmark.
Ronaldo scored the second in the 2-0 victory to notch his ninth goal if the group stages, breaking the record previously held jointly by Champions League legends Ruud van Nistelrooy, Pippo Inzaghi and Hernan Crespo.
What was even more impressive was that he sat out Real Madrid's previous group match because of injury, though he wasn't missed as Galatasaray were despatched 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Luka Modric opened proceedings at the Parken with a terrific curling shot from the edge of the area into the top corner, before Ronaldo doubled the lead with his record-breaking close-range strike.
The Portugal captain could have extended the record to ten goals, but his attempt at a Panenka penalty failed miserably and was read by Copenhagen 'keeper Johan Wiland.
