With rumours circulating that Paris Saint-Germain recently tried to acquire the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo, the question is would the Portuguese superstar be a good fit for the French team?
The Parisians have already recruited several top-class players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and are evidently looking to splash out even more in order to boost their squad with Ronaldo seemingly top of their list.
The French league is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, with PSG and Monaco paying through the nose to land world-class players. But at this stage in his career, is an up-and-coming league with teams that don't yet have the firepower to challenge the big boys of world football really what Ronaldo is looking for?
There is no doubt that the tricky winger would do well in France. He has done well at every club he has played for and has proved over and again that he can compete in every league he is placed in and can score against whatever team he comes up against. There is no doubting his quality.
Looking at it from a player's point of view, La Liga is a league where there are five or six teams that can do some real damage to the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona and every team has a strong squad, as showcased by the likes of Athletic Bilbao who twice beat Manchester United two years ago.
In France, though, there are only really three contenders for the title each year and most teams don't have world-class players, which is why you can usually predict the outcome of most matches between the big three and the smaller clubs.
Ronaldo would be the biggest player in the whole of France and would probably score even more than he does at Real Madrid. But for a player of his quality there is always that urge to play against the best and not just against those who you know you can beat.
In the end, the bids from PSG will probably be for naught. Ronaldo is Real Madrid's talisman and it would be a miracle if they managed to pull him away from a club where he is adored by the fans and is scoring so freely.
Although that may be what most Manchester United fans thought too.
