Manchester United should do all they can to land Koke

Manchester United boss David Moyes was spotted at the Vicente Calderon last night as reportedly ran the rule over Atletico Madrid star Koke.

The Red Devils have been linked with Koke for a while now as it seems like they have switched their attention away from Ander Herrera to Atletico Madrid's midfield maestro.

It is obviously pure speculation that Moyes was in Spain solely to scout Koke but it does seem quite likely that he is plotting a move for the 21-year-old - given the fact he also spoke Atletico Madrid's president after the game.

Koke, who has been dubbed 'the new Xavi', has the joint record amount of assists so far this season with eight in 15 La Liga games .

The Spaniard played a major role in Atletico Madrid's successful 2012/13 season, which saw them earn a hard-earned place in this season's Champions League.

Koke is seen as a vital component to Diego Simeone's side - but has a release clause of £20million

The Manchester United target would be a terrific buy and is well worth the aforementioned fee due to his age, experience in the Champions League and his all-round ability.

Premier League champions United are in need of a central midfielder who can dictate play from midfield, claim assists and score goals - just like Paul Scholes used to do when he was in his prime.

Koke ticks all the boxes as he has a fantastic range of passing and has the potential to score around 10 goals per season.

United's other midfield options - Anderson, Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick - usually score around two or three a season, and that is at the very most.

Marouane Fellaini was thought to be the man who could ease the goalscoring burden on Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney - but he has so far failed to settle into life at Old Trafford.

Koke would probably take a while to settle into life in England - due to the culture change - but he would be well worth the £20million investment needed to steal him away from Atletico Madrid as he has the potential to be a world-class central midfielder.
