Arsenal have revealed that the club have cut ties with youth team coach Mark Arber after he placed a bet that German international Mesut Ozil would join the club, reports The Daily Star.

Arber, who currently plays for non-league outfit Crawley Town, stated on Twitter that he bet Ozil would join the Gunners.

At the time - in September -  Arber tweeted: "Lovely bit of 14-1 Mesut’"

That tweet has certainly come back to haunt him as an Arsenal club spokesman revealed that Arber no longer works for the club.

A club spokesman said: "Mark Arber is not working for us and won’t be."

Ozil joined the north London outfit on last summer's transfer deadline day and, despite the FA not taking any action over the placed bet, Arber has now paid the ultimate price after losing his job.

Despite the signing of Ozil having repercussions for Arber, Arsenal fans will certainly be pleased with the impact that the German superstar has made to the club.

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League and Ozil has enjoyed a successful start to the season at the Gunners.

Ozil will currently be preparing for Arsenal's crunch clash with Manchester City at the Etihad tomorrow.
