4. Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho always played - and continues to play - football with a smile on his face, but there will always be a tinge of sadness when discussing his career and what could have been.

For a couple of seasons at Barcelona, the Brazil international was simply unstoppable. He was doing things on a weekly basis at the Camp Nou that none of us had ever seen before.

But the phenomenally gifted South American allowed himself to become distracted. Pep Guardiola saw this, and he was subsequently sold to AC Milan, who only witnessed glimpses of the 2005 Ballon d'Or winner's true capabilities.

He will still go down in history as one of football's great showmen, but he could have been so much more.
