A security guard who works at the Los Angeles Lakers' training complex has been charged with stealing two NBA championship rings that went missing a week ago.

Eddie J. Monterroso was arrested and charged with felony grand theft and burglary as police believe that it was he who stole the two rings and as much as $20,000 in gift cards.

Officers began their investigations on December 5 after the rings went missing from the Lakers' training center. Moterrosso then became their chief suspect and was arrested on Tuesday.

The suspect's home was then searched and police recovered two NBA rings which were from the 2009 and 2010 championship seasons.

It hasn't yet been determined which individuals the rings belong to, but the attention is now likely to switch focus to Monterroso, who has chosen not to enter a plea bargain.

The 2010 championship is the last time that the Lakers were victorious in the NBA.
