Dom Dwyer, perhaps unheard of to your average football fan, has just finished his first season in the professional game by winning the MLS Cup with his current club Sporting Kansas City. Dwyer actually won two titles this year, whilst on loan at Orlando City Dwyer won the USL Pro League, essentially the U.S.A's third division.
At Orlando City, Dwyer scored 15 goals in just 13 games, showing he deserved his chance on the pitch for Sporting KC in the MLS. On returning to Kansas for the end of the season, Dwyer scored only two goals, but made a name for himself by scoring the winner to put Sporting KC into the MLS cup final. He also earned himself a starting place in the team for the final.
The 23-year-old striker, who spent seven years in Norwich's youth set-up, has turned heads since becoming a regular in the Kansas City starting team.
The youngster is very quick and agile, he scores goals, bombards defenders with pressure and is an athletic, physical presence.
Dwyer has recently been linked with joining an English Championship club in January. A return to England could be the next step in a long and successful career for Dwyer, but for now he remains a Sporting Kansas City player.
Dwyer has had a great year and he has shown at a young age that he has the potential to one day play in a top European League.
