Chelsea have made an official offer for Manchester United target Fredy Guarin, according to reports in the Metro.
Following speculation that Blues officials were set to sit down with Inter Milan chiefs and negotiate deals for both Guarin and fellow Inter star Andrea Ranocchia, it's now believed that they have made a formal bid for the former.
Jose Mourinho had previously suggested that he would not be looking to add to his squad in January but, with the title-race hotting up as we near the end of the year, he has changed his mind.
The deal on the table is believed to include an up-front fee of £10million, as well as add-on bonuses of around £5million.
The news is unlikely to be received well in Manchester, as David Moyes was said to have also been in talks with Inter over a possible purchase of the Colombian.
Guarin is a powerful midfielder who would fit the bill at either Premier League outfit and so it will come as no surprise if Moyes opts to make an improved offer of his own in an attempt to hijack Mourinho's deal.
Inter are currently said to be mulling over Chelsea's proposal but have yet to respond.
