Manchester United deal for Koke off

Manchester United's anticipated move for Atletico Madrid star Koke looks to have taken a turn for the worst, after it emerged that the youngster wants to remain in Spain.

The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with the Atletico ace since the summer, with manager David Moyes having personally scouted him himself last week, but now according to the Independent the Spanish starlet is unwilling to depart his club.

The report states that the 21-year-old's desire to remain with Los Rojiblancos stems from his concerns about how a move to the Premier League mid-way through the season may have a direct effect on his chances of making Spain's squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

On top of that, with Diego Simeone's high-flying Atletico currently sitting level on points with Barcelona at the La Liga summit, Koke is said to be eyeing a domestic title before he considers departing the Vicente Calderon.

If the rumours are proven to be true then they will do little to quell the nerves surrounding United ahead of the January transfer window.

David Moyes had a less than fruitful summer transfer window and is expected to make amends next month, however it doesn't stand him in good stead if he's already been rejected by his No.1 target.
