Manchester United to lose out on Andres Iniesta

Barcelona expect Manchester United target Andres Iniesta to sign a new deal before the end of the week, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

Premier League champions Manchester United were said to be preparing a January move for the midfielder after it was revealed Barcelona were refusing to meet Iniesta's wage demands.

Red Devils boss David Moyes is desperate to add a world-class midfielder to his ranks as the likes of Anderson and Marouane Fellaini have failed to impress the former Everton boss.

However Iniesta, 29, is reportedly close to putting pen to paper on a new deal that will see him stay at the Camp Nou until 2018.

The Barcelona midfielder, who worked his way through the La Liga side's academy, has won six league titles and three Champions League medals since signing his first professional deal in 2002.

Manchester United boss Moyes is now likely to switch his attention to Iniesta's fellow countrymen Ander Herrera and Koke.
