David Moyes could move for a cut-price deal to sign Porto’s Lucho Gonzalez in January to give his midfield more creative options, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The Manchester United manager is keeping an eye on the 33-year-old who he tried to sign twice whilst at Everton. The Argentinian has bags of Champions League experience, having played for Porto and Marseille.

The midfielder is currently in his second spell at Porto and started every Champions League game this season, scoring two goals.

Porto were knocked out of the competition in the group stage after finishing third behind Atletico Madrid and Zenit. The Portuguese side have entered the Europa League were drawn against Eintracht Frankfurt in the round of 32.

Moyes is also interested in signing Atletico’s Koke in January and is desperate to add to his midfield whilst Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are both injured.

Gonzalez’s European experience could be tempting for United, who will face Olympiakos in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The midfielder is out of contract with Porto next summer and could provide an answer, albeit temporarily, for Moyes’ midfield worries.
