Scotland Under-21 star Ryan Gauld has rejected interest from Manchester United and Arsenal by committing his future to Dundee United.
The attacking midfielder, who has been dubbed the new Messi, was being watched by representatives from a host of top European sides.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid were just some of the sides who has been keeping a close eye on the 18-year-old.
Gauld has been in fine form for Dundee United, scoring six goals in 18 games for the Scottish Premier League side, which had attracted the interest of a number of Europe's big boys.
However Gauld, who made his Dundee United debut at the tender age of 16, has decided to reject overtures from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United to sign a deal that will keep him at Tannadice until 2017.
Dundee boss Jackie McNamara revealed his delight at the teenager signing a new deal.
“Ryan is showing his commitment to the club by signing this contract," said McNamara.
“We are trying to build something special here and securing Ryan on a longer deal signals our desire to achieve this.
“He is a fantastic talent who appreciates that Dundee United is the best place for him to develop at this time.”
