Defenders will use any trick in the book to prevent the opposition scoring, but Kasimpasa star Ryan Donk may have gone a step too far.
The former Holland under-21 international, who spent time on loan at West Brom, bizarrely halted an attack from the opposition by throwing a second match ball at feet of a Besiktas player.
Donk had come across the loose ball during the impressive build-up play from Besiktas, but, for some reason, decided to retain the ball in his hands - presumably because he thought it might come in handy later.
The game continued with the referee unaware of the second ball and developed in to a promising attack for Besiktas.
But Donk's accurate throw hit the ball in play and stopped the attack, earning him a yellow card in the process.
Seemingly unaware of what he should do, the referee awarded a drop ball in the penalty box as opposed to a spot kick.
Donk's exploits evidently worked, as Kasimpasa ran out 2-1 winners
In what was a game full of incidents, a fan also ran on to the pitch and kicked former Everton man Manuel Fernandes, flooring him in the process.
