Manchester United have widened their search for a long-term replacement to Patrice Evra incase they fail to sign Leighton Baines, reports A Bola.

French international Evra is entering the last six months of his contract and is widely expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer, if not, sooner.

The Portuguese daily claims that David Moyes has sent scouts to Porto to scout up-and-coming left-back Alex Sandro, who has impressed this season.

The Manchester United official returned from the game against Atletico Madrid impressed despite seeing Porto lose 2-0.

Moyes is still keen on signing Everton star Baines, but has so far been unable to convince his former club to release the England international.

The Red Devils had been linked with a £15m January bid, but are believed to be looking at all alternatives now, with Luke Shaw also being seen as an alternative.

And it seems Moyes is now drawing up a lengthy shortlist of replacements after failing to be convinced that Alex Buttner has what it takes to fulfil the role of Evra's long-term replacement.

While Buttner moves closer to the Old Trafford exit door, Sandro's impressive form for Porto has seen his stock rise considerably.

At only 22-years-old, Sandro has already helped Porto to two domestic titles as well as a Copa do Brasil and an Olympic silver medal.
