Following his last promotion of 2013, this has undoubtedly been the year of promoter Eddie Hearn.
After taking the reins of the boxing side of Matchroom sport, Eddie Hearn has followed his father’s success and become one of the most powerful promoters in the world.
All the current British boxing world champions are promoted by Matchroom sport.
Lightweight Champion Ricky Burns signed from bitter rival Frank Warren earlier in the year, which was followed by Scott Quigg from Hatton Promotions.
The jewel in Hearns crown is the four-time champion of the world Carl 'the Cobra' Froch, with the pair managing to reintroduce pay-per-view back to British boxing.
The pay per view fights, a unification against Mikkel Kessler and a domestic world title fight against stablemate George Groves, could be contenders for fight of the year.
Matchroom fighter Darren Barker was also in possession of a world title before losing against Felix Sturm in Stuttgart.
Also part of the Matchroom stable is Kell Brook who is currently 31 fights unbeaten and has already had two world title fights against Devon Alexander falling through because of injury.
To challenge Hearns dominance Frank Warren, Ricky Hatton, Barry McGuigan and Frank Maloney formed and agreement to put their shows on subscription channel Boxnation.
The latter has since retired from boxing after his star man David Price’s two successive defeats to American veteran Tony Thompson.
The only other resistance is Mick Hennessy who has brought boxing back to terrestrial television, but does not have as strong stable as as their Matchroom counterparts.
Hearn has also invested in a stable for the future with some of the boxers that were so successful at the London 2012 Olympics.
The captain of the Olympic team, Tom Stalker, was the first to sign for the company.
This was followed by Great Britain’s only two male boxing gold medalists, Luke Campbell and Anthony Joshua.
Many experts have predicted that it is only a matter of time before Campbell and Joshua become world champions.
With Carl Froch wanting a super fight in Las Vegas against Andre Ward, George Groves and Kell Brook closing in on world title shots and the Olympians set to clean up domestically, it looks like 2014 is set to be another strong year for Eddie Hearn.
