Football players are often told to let their feet do the talking, but Mario Balotelli has taken it to a different level – with newspaper cuttings adorned on his boots.
The extrovert Italian has never been far from the headlines and was a press favourite whilst at Manchester City in the Premier League.
Famous for lighting fireworks in his bathroom, his unusual fashion sense and struggling to put a training bib on, the AC Milan striker revealed a pair of new boots covered with newspaper headlines from his career.
Balotelli was a hit with the papers during his time in England, with the “Why Always Me?” goal celebration at Old Trafford and was dubbed Super Mario at City.
Unfortunately Balotelli’s new footwear was unable to inspire the striker to score as Milan drew 2-2 with title contenders Roma last night.
The 23-year-old managed to grab an assist as he set up Sulley Muntari for Milan’s 77th-minute equaliser but missed a golden opportunity for the winner.
Balotelli dragged a left-footed effort wide in the last minute with only the ‘keeper to beat.
The Italian will face England at the World Cup next summer and will hope to make more headlines in Manaus during his nations’ opening fixture.
