A club statement in the early hours of Monday via the club's official website confirmed the inevitable dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas from his club duties.
The news hardly came as a surprise to the football aficionado, with Spurs languishing in 7th place behind the likes of Everton and Newcastle following a summer in which Villas-Boas spent a small fortune on bringing Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and others to White Hart Lane.
6-0 and 5-0 capitulations to Manchester City and Liverpool respectively only served as the final nails in Villas-Boas' managerial coffin.
While Tim Sherwood has temporarily assumed the vacancy in an interim capacity, it is understood that a run of bad form will prompt Daniel Levy to appoint a new manager on a permanent basis.
GMS looks at five possible candidates to replace Andre Villas-Boas as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, in no particular order.
